Wow.

AMAZING
hi
Reply to this commentgood be here
Reply to this commentThis is a promising interface. I hope that Google will further pursue innovative interfaces for digital libraries. It would be great if such an interface could also be used to represent personal ebook collections (e.g. from calibre, shellfary, or goodreads). I wrote a blog post about the topic: http://proto-knowledge.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/imagining-3d-digital-bookshelf-of-future.html

Reply to this commentIt needs to be made so that it can be used with a touch screen. My computer is touch screen and it would not work. Another thing is it should have a way of searching. Just type in a letter and jump to all books with that letter or word on the cover. Make it so search could be made to search for any letter/word, or name. Maybe even make it so you don't even have to click on a search bar. Just start typing and the books will starting organizing. But put the search bar there for more advanced searches. Good idea.
Reply to this commentOh! It s Amazing!
Reply to this commentLove d concept..Looks great..for a book lover its like looking at an actual book shelf..although the graphics could be sharper and more clear..They are a little blurry..or maybe you can have a rotating shelf so less book in one snapshot and make them bigger...

Reply to this commentI have no word to appreciate
Reply to this commentVery cool. Need some search capability to narrow selection beyond genre... i.e., title, author, publisher, publishing date, and some fuzzy searches would be cool.
Say I want to read the newest free book on metaphysics. You get the idea.
Lots of potential here. Very Cool.
Reply to this comment很不错,谷歌就是财大气粗
Reply to this comment我知道很多强大的羊。他们的行为没有恶意和有火腿,火腿片和博博火腿片没有任何疑虑。
Reply to this commentCan get a little buggy if your computer isn't very fast. it can also get a little confusing with the highlights of the books in the area you are viewing, might want to edit that so it will run smoothly...
Reply to this commentIt is nothing more than a fancy advertisement. You cannot read the books unless you purchase them so it is no different than a pretty Amazon web site. If it were a repository of open source books, then it would be awesome. You are wasting your time browsing here.
Reply to this commentWell it was not supposed to be for reading books. But for discovery of booksits great
Reply to this commentHave you ever seen Google books?
Reply to this commentDla czego ja nie mam tego?Eksperymentowac tak eksperymentowac-na całego...
Reply to this commentThis is a fantastic idea. Easy and intuitive book browsing.
Reply to this commentWould be nice if open sourced.
Reply to this commentitz not working....:(
Reply to this commentI think your not using chrome, If you are, Please Update/Download your chrome. Thank you.
Reply to this commentVery awesome collection of "experiments" but I have noticed that firefox actually presents WebGL pages better than chrome does, mind you not a whole lot better but a noticeable amount. For starters I have yet to have a WebGL page crash on me, but 1 out of 5 WebGL pages culminates in a runtime error.
Reply to this comment!!!!
Reply to this commentLooks like iBook!
Reply to this commentThis book is very good!
Reply to this commentI agree with what a few others are saying, a search device would be extremely handy. This could also be used as a new GUI for an entire computer or mobile device.
Reply to this commentWhat about source code, so we can experiment a little more???

Reply to this commentnice appl. its all u need to customize your computer
Reply to this commentthis is nice and easy to organize your whole computer.
Reply to this commentit is usable, if you could improve more the velocity and make possible to use zoom and a book search, this bookstore will be great.
Reply to this commentVisually very impressive. Missing more detailed search function (by title, author, year of publication). Not sure I understand the advantage of QR code vs link for mobile download

Reply to this commentgostaria de saber como faço para achar um livro específico, por ex: sobre livro em hotelaria, pois gostei muito desse trabalho de livros ou este tipo de biblioteca virtual na Internet
Reply to this commentThis is very impressive - I think this could be the way we look for books on line in future - great work
Reply to this commentNo me funciona en Chrome y Firefox 9, carga muy lento; ¿necesita requerimientos mínimos?

Happy New Year
I Love this amazing Bookcase! And if the the speed of Browse page could faster (maybe just on 'Jump' is enough :) ) or let user could recognize the titles of books on the case directly would be better.
Reply to this commentA bit too slow but a great idea!

Reply to this commentGoogle is so great! I hope you can do better! I do believe!
Reply to this commentesta vien curada dtodos me parece el más interesante
Reply to this commentIn addition to a serious seacrh function would be useful to have substantial standard verified catalog info. for older or public domain materials , ie edition, (date and place of publication) editor, if any, etc.etc. - not just a copy of what is an apparent match drawn from Worldcat - ( what you call metadata ) or the mishmash presented by Google Books.
Reply to this commentaku bisa masuk jd anggota tapi aku baru main di facebook maka aku cobaa ajah

Reply to this commentGreat idea and concept, there should be a search feature by title and or by Author when you get into a subject. Hard to read the titles on some books..

Reply to this commentI'm getting a cross-origin error on this one, is that supposed to happen?
Reply to this commenti love books
Reply to this commentVery nice job. It would be nice if you can see the cover books bigger. I can barely read the cover of many of them.

Reply to this commentThis is very perfect & wonderful.
Reply to this commentGibt es das auch mit deutschen
Reply to this commentI love the idea but the thumbnails need to be bigger, the search function need to expand keyword, content (tropes maybe?) etc. and the needs to be sort options as well like having all the books in a series together or only new books or by author, price etc.
Reply to this commentyeah also with authors or a cathegory like nobel prize or more awards not only best sellers
Reply to this commentcomme on it is interressant
Reply to this commentnice step towards book search. but there must be "keyword " search too.
Reply to this commentse mira intereesante tendre que probarlo
Reply to this commentpara que sirve
Reply to this commentExcellent idea, but as others have said: - Search functionality please; - Make the icons of the book covers much bigger (or allow the user to specify how big they need to be) as they are virtually unreadable (for being too small) in the carousel view; - See price of book (perhaps a switch-able toggle); - Link to 1-click purchase?; Good luck - look forward to seeing how it develops
Reply to this commentgreat
Reply to this commenthmm my graphic card doesnt support webgl .
Reply to this commentsame problem here...it´s too bad because I really wanted to try it
Reply to this commentI had the same problem, if you're on Linux try another driver, it worked for me.
Reply to this commentGreat. Really like it. I suggest to increase the size of book thumbnail in order for the users to see what book are they really seeing, or give users control upon size of view, or present a bigger thumbnail upoon getting focus....in any case congratulations. It's really original and full of possibilities to enhance and explore.
Reply to this commentThis is the best welcome to the future of books. great job
Reply to this commentWhat about searching this wonderful bookcase? Searching by keyword, title, author... Another tip, what about get this view from "My eBooks" It would be nice to have our preferred titles in this way...Nice job
Reply to this commentGood job, really realistic! but to make it better you could improve the browsing pages experience. I really don't like google books preview, it's not intuitive and it doesn't show enough. making a randomic browsing based on the time you press the mouse button could give a "something like" thumbing the real book.
Reply to this commentGreat experiment! It would be nice if one could use this to browse your home comp epub library. For example, one provides a library xml file like iTunes xml, and the bookcase app displays it.
Reply to this commentYou allready got something like this in Google books - My Library - My ebooks. Not exactly your epub library but the books you added from google books
Reply to this commentI agree with Manish, it would be very nice! Should this feature become available, please let us know!
Reply to this commentWonderful, this takes the wysiwyg to a whole different stage of imagination.
Reply to this commentyen duy
Reply to this commentI love book* XD
Reply to this commentVery nice , but on my Mac running Lion, if you use touchpad scrolling gestures the stack rotates and pans backward. I suspect you reversed the scrolling behavior to correct the behavior of pre-Lion (and every other window system's) scroll behavior. Better check the OS to decide which way to scroll!
Reply to this commentNeeds some kind of a subject or keyword-based search function so you don't have to spend the time browsing all the covers if you're looking for something more specific.
Reply to this commentLove it, love it, love it!! A virtual bookstore on my own computer. Browsing my way through everything that captures my eye or interest. I'm already addicted. The only thing missing are preview pages. But still: love it, love it, LOVE IT!
Reply to this commentI could not read any single book of this web library.
Reply to this commentI met the message Cannot determine user location
Reply to this commentWorked great on my computer. Pictures were a little bit slow loading but only a little bit.
Reply to this commentFor iPad also please
Reply to this commentReally cool experiment and a halfway decent way to browse books. However conducting a directed search doesn't seem possible. Didn't see any rhyme or reason on book organization aside from the categories. How about alphabetizing by author or book title? Even better, how about leaving organizational options in the user's hands. Some titles are very hard to read from the shelf.
Reply to this commentGreat, but Is it limited to books in English? And where is the search button?
Reply to this commentGreat, I love it. Is it limited to books in English only?
Reply to this commentIts outstanding the way the library is shown. However, I wanted to search for a single book and I was unable to reach the title I wanted nor see with acccuracy the cover of the books.
Reply to this commentGreat proof of concept. Maybe add keyboard navigation (up/down to raise/lower spiral, left/right to spin it). Also, some sort of filtering (a la search by author)? Maybe sort by category, author, cost?
Reply to this commentCool... buy my computer didn't support webgl...
Reply to this commentTry downloading google chrome! ;)
Reply to this commentIn a bookstore fiction is arranged alphabetically by author. Nonfiction by topic within a subject. If you do that it would make it much easier to find what one is looking for. It would also be great if there was an option to view all the other books that a selected author wrote.
Reply to this commentfantastic technology its a pleasure to see great job i am become a fan instantly!!!
Reply to this commentBeautiful. Love it. Very nicely done and useful with touch interface. Also we can browse books very fast but seeing so many choices so fast is also a challenge for the bookcase.
Reply to this commentsuperb like
Reply to this commentWhere are my own Books, meine Bibliothek?
Reply to this commentIs there a way I can search for a book....
Reply to this commentyeah that would be great. then you should make it so you see similar books around it. more so then just books of the same category but books actually like it.
Reply to this commentI noticed when I choose to browse free books, most of the books that come up aren't actually free. I don't have a problem buying an e-book. I'd just like to be able to browse the free ones.
Reply to this commentCouldn't agree more, this actually makes the selection process much more realistic, it doesn't reach to the point of actually grabbing a book and opening a random page to see how the autor writes, and the design of the inner pages.
Reply to this commentThis is awesome! Thanks to Google Team.. really love it!
Reply to this commentIf you make the books easier to see then it will be perfect. At the moment the covers of the books are too small to see, and I use a 40 inch television for a monitor.
Reply to this commentIf you click on too many books it says you must be signed up otherwise I really like it :)
Reply to this commentWould like to see some keyboard navigation. Arrow keys to pan up down, spin left right. Maybe tab to move to next category.
Reply to this commentvery nice, italian book please
Reply to this commentplease the Italian book
Reply to this commentTerrible experiment, I don't wish for a library experience on my PC. I wish to find something I want or something interesting as quickly as possible without any flashy delays.
Reply to this commentyou have that option already.
Reply to this commentfree book please
Reply to this commentReally cool experiment and a halfway decent way to browse books. However conducting a directed search doesn't seem possible. Didn't see any rhyme or reason on book organization aside from the categories. How about alphabetizing by author or book title? Even better, how about leaving organizational options in the user's hands. Also have to agree with Jody W. Some titles are very hard to read from the shelf.
Reply to this commentjean
Reply to this commentThe bookshelf metaphor is not really needed. We can all imagine a physical book without the bookshelf. Seeing the cover is good though, and I suspect showing the cover in a more list like interface would actually be better.
Reply to this commentI think I agree that a bookcase metaphor isn't needed, and that a visual list of covers would work. Maybe it would be useful to have a setting to toggle between the bookshelf and a visual list view.
Reply to this commentthe font used for the book synopsis is very poor. Use a Sans Serif so we can read it better.
Reply to this commentReally hoping this is more than JUST AN EXPERIMENT!!
Reply to this commentTerrific work. I'd like to be able to set different sorts of parameters for how and what the spiral shelf displays as well as get some way of reading the size/scale of the objects (rather than seeing them as covers). Congrats on this.
Reply to this commentNice, I would be cool if you could look at 'My LIbrary' so you could see your own books :)
Reply to this commentChrome team is the best!!!! really awesome
Reply to this commenttried on chromebook and size of 'lazy susan' could have been bigger to make titles more legible.
Reply to this commentVery nice interface! But would love to not have to select a book to be able to read the title. How about a zoom option?
Reply to this commentFabulous , will be using when you go live. Is it possible to have a direct search for a specific title or ISBN? and have the book covers enlarge as cursor goes over them . Well done to the team.
Reply to this commentFantastic experiment! It would be great to have such an interface on tablets or phones. For the website, is it possible to "get closer" to the bookcase so the book titles can be read easily?
Reply to this commentOutstanding...
Reply to this commentlove it! Good Job, Chrome team!
