Launch Experiment
Slow? Not Working? Try it in Google Chrome.
From the Author:
It is the end result of an ongoing tutorial series (http://www.brighthub.com/hubfolio/matthew-casperson/blog/archive/2009/06/29/game-development-with-javascript-and-the-canvas-element.aspx) that demonstrates how a simple game can be made using JavaScript and the Canvas element. Although it works in a number of browsers, Chrome is definitely the best browser to run it in.
Technology:
The demo makes use of the Canvas element and JavaScript to produce a simple platform style of game.

Reply to this commentY Halo Thar, XNA Platformer Starter Kit graphics
Reply to this commentJust trying different engines for HTML5. Great work here. But its severe on CPU usage. On firefox it takes usage upto 45% from 3%. May be some optimization can be dome. I was comparing it with a severe tile game on flash which only used 14% CPU.
Reply to this commentnot to bad at all could be better
Reply to this commentawsome, add in a gun that u can shoot other soldiers and make the dimonds into "pickup boosters" and this game would thrash others.
Reply to this commentAwsome it apears to work on iPhone. Just missing controls to check it out with.

Reply to this commentIf I were you I would use original graphics as i know the were in the MICROSOFT XNA GS 3 Starter Kit.
Reply to this commentno cmment
Reply to this commentIt's a really good proof of concept, however, it uses too much processor power, even more than flash. Hopefully javascript engines will become much less resource intensive, and game designers will know how to code their games to use less power.
Reply to this commentdo the java dun dun dun dedendu do the java bim bim bim belimp im.........
Reply to this commentThis has been done over and over again and the graphics need more work.
Reply to this commenti like java
Reply to this commentMy screen is too small... when ever I jump (space) it scrolls down. Otherwise, GROOVY!
Reply to this commentI like the Idea, but its " sorta " boring, at least it's a test = more coming who knows when, who know where
Reply to this commentIs it just me or does the character bump into thin air close to the blocks? Bounding box seems to be a little too wide.
Reply to this commentHaven't you people ever heard of a proof of concept? This is mostly a tech-demo, it isn't a full fledged game. Mad props to author, you rock. Keep up the hard work!
Reply to this commentVery Metal Slug. Props.
