Find Your Way To OZ
February 05, 2013From the Author:
Find Your Way to Oz is an interactive journey inspired by Sam Raimi's latest feature film, Oz The Great and Powerful.
Built using advanced web technologies, this Chrome Experiment will take you through a dusty Kansas circus to the vibrant land of Oz. Take a look around - nothing is as it seems.
Can you find your way to Oz?
Technology:
“Find Your Way To Oz”’ desktop version uses many of the web’s more advanced features: Immersive Graphics: WebGL is the basis for the entire 3D environment. This was embellished by CSS3 features including CSS Transitions. The experiment also uses GLSL shaders to engulf users in an ominous-looking tornado. Rich Audio: As the user explores the experiment, the 3D sound dynamically adapts thanks to the Web Audio API. The same API powers the experiment’s music composing section. Camera- based interactions: Through WebRTC’s getUserMedia API, the user can become a circus character or record his/her own mini-movie. The experiment’s mobile web version is also built using open web technologies. These include CSS3 features such as accelerated 3D transforms and sprite sheets. “Find your way to Oz” also uses hardware features like camera, multi-touch, gyroscope and accelerometer to create an experience that can normally only be found in native apps.

Reply to this commentIf you make a "Chrome experiment", then please make itat least run under chrome.
Reply to this commentI'm on Chrome 24 on Ubuntu 64bit, and Chrome does not support WebGL under Linux, as it seems, so the demo does not run.
Firefox on the other hand does support WebGL..
Sad.

Reply to this commentIt loads and all I get are a black screen, I am using a Chromebook. So far it seems that this chrome experiment doesn't work on chrome....needs a fix!
Reply to this commentno sound, often get stuck withouth being able to move anymore. Not a nice experience, I have the impression Disney spent more on validating their legal terms instead of testing this on common platforms.
Reply to this commentman I really wanted this to work. I am using chrome for win 8 tablet. tried both desktop and tablet mode. only get a fuzzy window with a circus sign. seems to be a rounded button in the center of the screen but nothing.
DECLARE AN EPIC FAIL FOR THIS EXPERIMENT
Reply to this commentThat's what I'm getting too! It's doing that for both the Standard and HD paths. =/

Reply to this commentNice graphics! I'd like to know, though, how did you all hide the JS from the user? That could be useful for developers.
