It was an OK game, but it could use some work. You lose coins when you die, and it has no tutorial so if you're just starting out you don't know what kills you. Also, add sound and more stuff (Enemies, Story, Sound, Levels).

This takes me back. I wrote the Trapdoor games for the Spectrum and it's lovely to see Bert (Berk) back on the screen; but my games were ferociously tricky.

How did you use blender? I'd like to try to create a 3d world of boxes, the player looks down at the boxes. I'm sure I could program it, or create it in blender,. So what did you do?

Would it be possible to export a blender file? Or tie in gaming? (don't know much about blender gaming). Also I have a 3d art project that I'd like to recreate on a webpage.

Great game considering its all javascript and HTML 5, right? Don't listen to those who overly criticise, most have never made a thing in their life. Much less with such new technology. More levels and some sound would be great upgrades. Works fine in Chrome on Vista. Using HSI cable the load time wasn't bad either.

So, a developer who is looking for feedback from people on a new project shouldn't listen to the people who cannot make the games?

If that were the case, EVERY game would suck.

Well, that's true, but as a developer I can tell it's not that easy. Using Flash for audio would be a Sacrilege (though some of the apps at Chrome Experiments do that).

It would be so much better with sound, and the kill zone for the spider is too large, but overall its an awsome game with cute graphics and great animation.

AWESOME! Is Bert made from clay or sprites? He's (she's?) so well rendered! Was it Anim8tor? Or clay?

Reply to this comment
By Abe on October 30, 2009

It says in the description he used Blender 3d to make the sprites, and gimp to touch them up.

One way others have been adding sound apparently is through flash. You might be able to do it that way with flex, as that is free and you don't need the full flash pro.
