Works great on an iPod 4th gen, will probably be a lot better on an iPad with its bigger screen though

Reply to this commentBut when shaking the window in Windows 7 when you opened multiple windows, other windows will go minimums unexpectedly.
Reply to this commentThis a strange feature of windows 7. Even when not running this experiment shaking any window will minimize all others
Reply to this commentYes, this is a "Convenience" feature in Windows 7. If you shake any one window or program window, all other windows will minimize automatically.

Reply to this commentWeird physics in this experiment. When you drag the browser upwards, the balls goes mid-air. When you drag it down, the balls stay on the bottom of the browser. In real life, the opposite happens.
Reply to this commentSame thing happens when you drag the browser left and right.

Reply to this commentWorks great in Opera browser
Reply to this commentI tried most major browsers. It works like i charm in Chrome and Safari on my Windows 7. Opera also runs fine - only lagging when moving window, but that doesn't have an effect on normal everyday applications. Firefox 3 was lagging a bit. but then, I guess they have a new version anyday... This proves that any browser will do except the old fossile from MS.

Reply to this commenta simple question please what do you use to edit javascript just like an IDE with autocompletion ??
Reply to this commentdavid, You might try "slickedit". I do not know about JS but use it for "C". It should be able to handle JS. The prog is quite expensive but worth every cent.
Reply to this commentI use gedit, which only does syntax highlighting... Sometimes Netbeas, but I haven't find a proper IDE that does JS yet.
Reply to this commentI noticed that all of the balls, regardless of size react the same when they are dragged. This seems just a little counter logical as a bigger size implies more mass and a greater inertial. In other words if two balls are dragged with the same force and thrown against the side of the window then the larger ball should travel a shorter distance.
Otherwise this is and excellent simulation.
Reply to this commenta simple question please what do you use to edit javascript just like an IDE with autocompletion ??
Reply to this commentVery nice, only thing is the balls move wherever the window moves.. which means you move it up, the balls go up, not sure if the are any Physicists out there than can help?
Reply to this commentI think its cool becuase its about the scripting. My friend doesn't really get what im going after. It isnt about the game, its about the programming and scripting.
Reply to this commentI LOVE this! I can't believe the rubbery 3-D texture feeling I can get from playing with this and the instant natural acceptance I experienced of my 2-D browser as a physical vessel. Incredible. Thank you!

just kidding.. it's brilliant. (shake the browser) nice.
Reply to this commentI like this very much. I can see this concept being extended to include tensile rules between the circle elements to teach structure of materials to students. Even for displaying molecules and there reactions with other elements. If the balls were all uniform, you could even start to model some fluid mechanics and the introduction of mixed solutions.

Reply to this commentIt looks really cool, but i see one lack- Your circles in some ways "jump" on eath other. In real situation circle just pass from eatch other and recline on others circle "lining". You`ve done circles fall and movement realistic, so it asks for really finished work ;)
Reply to this commentThat's was a matter of performance. Choose:
1) high frame rate + occasional jumpy behaviour. 2) very low frame rate + perfect behaviour.

Reply to this commentBah, it's been done! :) http://www.student.nada.kth.se/~d93-mmo/bounce/BouncingBalls.html
Reply to this commentThats a Java Applet. This on the other hand is Javascript. Its easier in Java than it is in Javascript. And this is also much more prettier :)
Reply to this commentThis is really impressive, but when I drag the window upper the balls should go to the bottom border, if you want to have a realistic impression....
Reply to this commentWow...the physics are awesome.
Reply to this commentya thats fine and can you tell hou can we design our browser.
Reply to this commentFunny.. Very funny!!! Anh how about licensing?? Will it be open ??
Reply to this commentKicking!
Reply to this commentWho would guess that it doesn't work in IE7
...Or IE8 :-)
Pretty good in Firefox 3.5 beta 5 pre, but the text on the big ball doesn't rotate....
Reply to this commentWorks awesome in Firefox Minefield, including rotating text. Really significant slowdown when balls overlap, but as long as they don't things work smoothly.
Reply to this commentYeah, but it totally works on my Safari 4 web browser. I love this experiment, too! Now what about this experiment with cubes?! Hmm......*light bulb*
Reply to this commentThis new features of Using the Browser is fabilous
Reply to this commentIt looks pretty!!! I wish To have it...
Reply to this commentTried it in Safari on a mac, but nothing appeared after it loaded. Can it be coded to be platform independent?
Reply to this commentIt works on Safari on Mac here. Make sure is the latest version.
Reply to this commentI'm not into things like this but this has taken my attention which is hard to get. Great work and I hate you!!!! :P J/k lol

Reply to this commentAll of the colour combos look cool, and it seems like fun.
Reply to this commentthis....this is the best site ive ever been on (other than neave)
Reply to this commentQuite impressive, in a fun-thing sort of way. Running under WinXP (ugh) and Chrome is pretty terrific, especially with dual-Xeon. How much does hardware and OS impact on Chrome performance?
Reply to this commentoh great!!!
Reply to this commentGet a clue. Javascript does not need to run in an HTML document or a browser.
Reply to this commenti don't know what is that
Reply to this commentwant to see all program
Reply to this commentWorks smoothly in Firefox 3.0.7. But does nothing (except displaying a black sceen) in Internet Exploder 6. I will try again when IE8 on XP is stable. (At work, we had some issues with IE7, that's why I will skip it.)

Reply to this commentgenius man..,i need to learn java
Reply to this commentIt's Javascript, not Java. That's kind of the point.
Reply to this commentdont be a prick
It's really, really not Java.
This is amazingly cool.
Reply to this commentNice. It is all so round! Anyone done a lava lamp yet? Though I guess the screen is not quite the right shape...
Reply to this commentCould be done via metaballs ... i wonder if someone can write an app with a suitable performance / resolution in js.
Reply to this commentYou can find a kind of java lamp at http://code.google.com/p/javascript-experiments/ Its made with metaballs.
In Safari 4 beta work's well. Very fast!!!
Reply to this commentBalls. They are touching. (Someone had to say it.)
Anywhoo, looks nice. On my browser though, the experiment slowed down _very_ quickly when adding balls & shaking.
Reply to this commenti think i need to do make the sites ..all pressure bubble you have a wonderful theme ..just this experiement will do the stuff ... awesome
Reply to this commentAwesome man.
Reply to this commenti agree that once it get's full it gets really slow but wierd slow
Reply to this commentWhen you get a really high res window the balls just get stuck on the far right.
Reply to this commentha Microsoft surface and this would be pure genius! works well but seems to get really really slow when nearly full
Reply to this commentCertainly love it! Expanding the window beyond 1680 px resulted in the balls freezing on the far right side of the window. So the balls on the left side would fall into the freezing point on the right side and disappear.
Reply to this commentWorking nicely in Opera 10 Alpha, very speedy.
Reply to this commentCtrl-mousewheel in FF 3.07 changes the size of everything and is another way to play with this.
Reply to this commentWorks ok in Firefox 3.0.7 except the formatting of the text inside the big ball is off.
Reply to this commentNice. Works great in Firefox.
Reply to this commentI can't comment on the experiment, unfortunately!
"Unfortunately, Google Chrome is not yet available for your operating system. This experiment may not run properly in your current browser."
How lame is that? I always thought the main advantage of Javascript was that it is at least mostly platform-independent. I can't believe this can't be running in a recent version of FF, I assume this is an attempt to get users to install Chrome. Sorry Google, been there, done that, saw no reason to stick with it.
Reply to this commentCool, but this doesn't have anything to do with the experiment. Does it? If you want to speak with Google use a proper channel please. Oh, and it does work on FF, just the CSS doesn't get properly applied.
Reply to this commenthello
It runs fine in FF. Perhaps you should have taken the time to actually launch the experiment, rather than soap-boxing about Google. While java is platform independent, Webkit and Chrome are not. Development for platforms take time, and Google unsurprisingly developed Chrome for the most widespread platform. I'm sure Mac and Linux ports are not far behind.
Reply to this commentWebkit is platform independent. And Chrome has been too, even back when you posted this, in the form of Chromium.
Javascript, not Java. Java is absolutely nothing to do with Javascript and vice-versa.
Very cool - I tried dragging the window from one screen to the next (dual screen setup) and the balls fell out...now I just hold the button and watch the waterfall of balls!
Reply to this commentNice script. And works just fine on Opera
Reply to this commentWorks well im opera - no need for google chrome
Reply to this commentExactly. Works fine in Opera 10.
Reply to this commentNo it doesn't. Opera doesn't support styles for rotating elements.
Mr. doob did it again! :) Respect mate!
Reply to this commentAwsome ! Couldnt believe this is all done with javascript.
Reply to this commentWow! Very nice!
Reply to this commentF-in awesome, that's some good work
Reply to this commentwondering if mr doob is new the Yugop?
Reply to this commentWow! That's a bit too much man! :$
Reply to this commentwhat happened to multi user sketchpad???
Great fun in Windows 7, Aero Snap throws the balls around the browser wonderfully! To TB above: you're right, seems to take much more effort to get Aero Shake to work
Reply to this commentAmazing
Reply to this commentKrasota
Reply to this commentshaking the window seems to not work on Chrome 1.0.154.48
Reply to this commentu r designer & programmer without using Adobe Flash !!

Reply to this commentwho is that?
Reply to this commentおめてとう
Reply to this commentて?
Reply to this commentThis is great but shaking the window interferes with Aero Shake when running Win7 lol.
Reply to this commentMy Favorite experiment... cool
I tried chaos theory on this...
Fill up the pool with too many balls just keep the mouse button pressed till you can no more see even a tiny portion of background. Then shake the largest ball (Hello!) vigorously and leave it.
Initially the going will be slow..... but slowly the ball will start to move faster and faster... probably with a right number of balls (which can be very less also), you will be able to create a total chaos... :)
Reply to this commentIts probably a side effect of the way collision detection is implemented. Neat side effect though.
Reply to this commenti love you
Reply to this commenti love you
what do u say to whom?
So rad.
Reply to this commenthow is this rad seriously dude this is freaken dumb and you no it r-tard:)
Reply to this commentI'm guessing you're not a programmer. It's "rad" because Chrome supports a relatively new HTML element that other browsers don't support. This new element allows developers to do things (like fast realtime animation) like this that they couldn't do before.
Worked fine in Fire Fox 3.5.5 I don't see why google keeps flashing Chrome around as if its a revolutionary product, gone where no man has gone before. I think Brendan Eich would beg to differ. Its cool, but its not as if this was only possible because of chrome.
Yup, Mozilla is up-to-date with their HTML5 support too. But I do notice some speed differences between Firefox and Chrome, thanks to the JavaScript interpreters/recompilers they use.
kaya bola pantul
you may think its dumb but other people think its cool. It's not every day when you see stuff like this that actually works.
Actually, it is rad.
