Big update to the game - new 60fps graphics engine and now with sound!!
Reply to this commentI highly suggest publishing this to the Chrome Web Store. It will receive lots more attention. Offline play would be great as well.
Reply to this commentVery nice game, but with the integrated HTML, my browser alway scrolls on spacebar! Options for using another key, maybe?
Reply to this commentYeah I could do that - the scrolling is a known bug in Opera - it should cancel the event (works in the other browsers)
Reply to this commentUPDATED: Retro graphics mode now displays traditional looking glowing vector asteroids rather than simple circles!
Reply to this commentUpdated - power-ups now persist across levels, and downloadable source code updated to latest.

Reply to this commentI like it! I wish the power-ups would persist across levels, though -- otherwise why spend time vaccuuming up the power-ups at the end of the level if they're just going to go away!
Reply to this commentFar comment sir! And just for you, they now do! You only loose power ups when you get hit.

Reply to this commentI think the ship needs inertia, so that after you move, you eventually slow down. Otherwise, once you move, you are constantly moving, which makes it hard to control the ship and your shots for the rest of the level.
Reply to this commentThere is no resistance in space... no matter how much inertia a mass has, it will not slow down unless there is some sort of force applied to it.
Reply to this commentIt's true. Even the original arcade version never had inertia. The law of inertia stays that an object in motion will stay in motion unless there in a force slowing it down. Without air resistance or gravity, there is nothing to slow the ship down.
you guys are a couple of dorks

Reply to this commentGood game. Everything I wanted from the original. I love the shield. Sadly I can barely control my movement.
Reply to this commentWith the movement, That's what happens in space!
Reply to this commentTrue but I felt I had more control in the original game. I really like this though.
